It's been about a fortnight since I started using a pocket filofax to get out of my smartphone and be more organized. So far I'm enjoying the pen and paper life, and have got my Filofax mostly set up the way I like it, leftie-friendly and all.
One issue I had while looking up DIY stuff for my Filofax (I really should get round to naming it), was the lack of templates for the pocket size. It was especially depressing manually cutting up paper and getting all different sizes, despite my best efforts. It wasn't just the human error.. I just couldn't get the paper size template right on Indesign/Illustrator/Photoshop. So today I decided to eradicate error once and for all.
Attached link to a PDF of my pocket sized filofax paper cutting template. You're welcome.
never let it fade away

Coffee or tea?
Cham. (Malaysian drink that combines milk tea with strong coffee)
But seriously, I'm a coffee person. The smell cheers me up, and it's a lot harder to get wrong. Don't you just hate it when the tea isn't strong enough?
Favorite instant coffee recipe:
1 ts instant coffee (nescafe)
2 ts coffeemate creamer
3 ts raw sugar

Dear度假,第四天了。
况且,前阵子决定课业上的问题别烦他,以免他为我担心。
只是,一个人,不知道能撑多久。

the Walk home: end of the Rainbow
Taken one evening after work, outside the Stratford College, Southport. I was working as a tour guide, it was an exhausting day for me, having gone trampling up and down Burleigh Heads with my tour group, yelled at the kids for running away from me, and was short-tempered from dealing with drenched-from-rain-kids. I finally sent the last of them home, and was on the way to the bus stop, where I would catch a bus, then train, then bus again- a full 2.5 hour journey to get home. I was not looking forward to the rest of my day, but the rainbow cheered me up... somewhat. There was a saying in Mandarin that goes something like, "How can you have a rainbow without a little rain," and it reminded me of all the good I did that day, having been a point of contact between the Chinese kids and the new world of Aussie culture.

the Walk Home: Post and Repost
On Monday after a three-hour Pract lecture, I was sitting outside the Advanced Engineering Building enjoying the breeze and company while the girls were having their smoke. The view was pretty cool, being of some advanced building-protecting facade. Automatic sun-shading devices, I think. I snapped a photo of it, patted myself on the back for getting a good shot, posted it on Instagram, and then went about my business.
It was a pleasant surprise when I next went on Instagram and found that the official UQ Insta account reposted my photo. Woohoo! Despite it being an unofficial (and somewhat insignificant) acknowledgement, and I'm sure they do that quite often, I felt glad to have been recognized.. just a little. It was a good photo anyway.
So y'all just let me have my moment of pride yeah?

the Walk home: just over the next hill
Note: Written on 18 Jan- unpublished previously due to technical issues
It's 2 minutes to Sarah's official Moving Day, I've got the boxes ready, and some half-thought out idea of how to pack, but I've yet to start moving things out of their places.
I'm just exhausted, yea? It was a long day, starting with bible study at 9am, and ending with a hectic dinner shift. Was just doing the table-counter-kitchen-table circuit for the sixth consecutive time, when Boss stopped cooking to tell me my shift ended at 830 will I please get going.
And then I stopped at the bottle shop next door to get a strawberry-lime cider on sale, but it fell and broke on the pavement one bus ride later because the paper bag fell apart.
Anyway. Had a passion fruit sparkling juice instead and it turned out fine. Except that I'm still very tired.
The photo today was taken while walking home from a bike inspection (ended up not buying that particular bike because I'm too short for it). It reminded me of my many (failed) attempts to get into jogging as a form of exercise. I would start getting out of breath after 15 seconds, but would tell myself to just get to the next lamp post, and maybe the tree over there, and well since it's near why not stop after reaching the next junction? Of course, my body is too smart for me to trick myself to run 5k this way, but it's always been my practice to try just a bit more, just because I can.
